Alliance for Urban Sustainability
The 2018 annual meeting of the Alliance for Urban Sustainability took place in Borås, Sweden, on 23 and 24 May.
The Alliance for urban sustainability exemplifies the initiatives envisaged in the French and Swedish Strategic Partnership for Innovation and Green Solutions. It is a platform to enable cities to identify and adopt innovative sustainable urban solutions by examining issues of common concern and exchanging ideas and experience.
This year’s meeting aimed to share knowledge on the following thematic: Justice, Engaging citizens, Innovation gateways and SDGs and indicators.
The Reference Framework for Sustainable Cities (RFSC) has been invited to contribute to the session on SDGs and indicators, facilitated by the cities of Malmo and Strasbourg. The aim of this session was to introduce and raise awareness about the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals and the key role of cities in achieving the Goals and Targets set in agenda by 2030. The current monitoring and reporting processes at different levels was also a highlighted topic in this session.
As an online tool to assist cities in the design, implementation and monitoring of sustainable development strategies, the RFSC tool has a specific framework to help cities assessing their current local development plans and strategies against the 17 SDGs.
